7 Tricks for Pulling Off the Perfect Housewarming Party

Did you just move to Geneva and got your first apartment and now it is time to celebrate your new home? Or did you just bought a new house or apartment for yourself? – But that`s definitely needs some “Perfect Housewarming Party”

Let me give you some great tricks..

1.  Keep your guest list to a minimum.

The secret here is simple: Don’t invite everyone you know. Since your goal is to show off your new space, over-inviting will only make things crowded and uncomfortable for everyone involved. Stick to a few close friends and politely break it to your barista, dentist and chatty cube-mate that they will not, in fact, be receiving an invitation.

2.  Highlight your favorite rooms.

Set up appetizers and drinks in the rooms you’re most excited for guests to see. Love your new granite countertops? Then set up shop in the kitchen. Can’t wait to get rid of those awful blinds in the bedroom? Just steer guests clear of your sleeping space.

3.  Keep your drinks light.

With your gorgeous (and ahem, expensive) new white sofa on display, the last thing you need is a red wine stain ruining your night. Since plastic couch covers are definitely not an option, avoid dark-colored cocktails and opt for white wine, white sangria and of course, champagne.

4. Bring on the finger foods.

You can’t go wrong with one-bite appetizers. So while serving your famous pasta bolognese sounds great in theory, there’s a good chance it’ll end up all over your kitchen floor. Keep things bite-sized by serving sushi, cheese or mini-quiches( Or some recipes from MsBpartytime)…anything that won’t make a total mess.

5.  Prep the bathroom.

Because the last thing a guest wants to encounter is an empty roll of toilet paper. Lay out fresh hand towels, light a few candles and make sure to hide your stash of styling tools.

6.  Have a designated drop area.

You know that guest who refuses to hang up her coat? She doesn’t even compare to the guest who drops her parka on top of your perfectly-fluffed pillows. By intercepting bags and coats at the door, you can avoid lost jackets and unwanted clutter.

7. Decorate in clusters.

Rather than spreading out flowers and candles on every open space you can get your hands on; cluster decor close together in a central place like your coffee table. This will create one main focal point and direct guests to a central location to eat and talk. Worried your vases don’t match? As long as your flowers are in the same color family, no one will notice.
